Lying on the banks of the canal with my camera one day, I noticed that I could take a panoramic shot beginning with the view along the canal in one direction, then up into the branches of the trees and then down again to look along the canal in the other direction.

This created a really interesting composition with two horizons! Hung vertically the painting pushes my experimentation with reflections one step further. The water is not the mirror this time, rather a point somewhere in the foliage. Hung horizontally the green leaves envelop us, just as the canal does when we stand with a tree on either side, looking up into the branches.
