Along with Sculptor Carmen Varese I am exhibiting five new paintings created exclusively for Kunst & Kochen, a fine dining concept where small groups can enjoy dinner surrounded by art. Two large oil paintings from a previous series and a selection of limited edition prints are also on display. This new series captures the beauty and fairytale mystery of German forests.
Kunst & Kochen combine art and gourmet pleasure in a relaxed living room atmosphere at the Ruthenbergischer Hof, Lehderstrasse 43, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin.
The opening was a great success and the show continues until 30 August 2022. Ravensberge Wald

EN/ This Painting, and four others in the exhibition, were inspired by a wonderful hike through Ravensberge Wald in Potsdam.
The light was just right, shafts coming though the trees and adding to the sense of both enlightenment and mystery.
Clarity as leaves are illuminated yet simultaneously the shadows deepen.
DE/ Dieses Gemälde und vier weitere in der Ausstellung wurden durch eine wunderbare Wanderung durch den Ravensberge Wald in Potsdam inspiriert.
Das Licht war genau richtig, die Strahlen drangen durch die Bäume und verstärkten das Gefühl von Erleuchtung und Geheimnis.
Die Klarheit, mit der die Blätter beleuchtet werden, während sich gleichzeitig die Schatten vertiefen.

Salbeigrüne, moosbewachsene Büschel überall, welches sollte ich wählen, um meinen Kopf darauf zu ruhen?
Weich: weil wir manchmal ein wenig Zärtlichkeit brauchen.

Fresh

EN/ Fresh: After the storm came the calm and the sense that the forest was feeling invigorated.
Silver leaf under the cloud and the pathway as a reminder of the recent raindrops. Trees shooting up into the far-away refreshed for new growth.
DE/ Frisch: Nach dem Sturm kam die Ruhe und das Gefühl, dass der Wald sich sehr erfrischt fühlte.
Silberblatt unter der Wolke und der Weg als Erinnerung an die gestrigen Regentropfen. Bäume, die in die Ferne schießen, erfrischt für neues Wachstum.

Perspective

EN/ Not all the trees were so lucky; many fell under the rage of the strong storm.
Yet their life melts into the ground, giving vital energy to the coming trees and to the whole ecosystem.
Loss is does not always have to be accompanied by grief; it is a matter of perspective.
DE/ Nicht alle Bäume hatten so viel Glück; viele fielen unter der Wut des starken Sturms.
Dennoch verschmilzt ihr Leben mit dem Boden und gibt den nachfolgenden Bäumen und dem gesamten Ökosystem Lebenskraft.
Verlust muss nicht immer mit Trauer einhergehen; es ist eine Frage der Perspektive.

Holloway

EN/ Roger Deakin, an English writer, documentary-maker and environmentalist who passed away in 2006 was remembered by three friends in a little book called “Holloway”.
Now whenever I find these deep paths carved through the forest floor by the passage of time, of creatures, people and weather, I think of Roger, though we never met.
DE/ Roger Deakin, ein englischer Schriftsteller, Dokumentarfilmer und Umweltschützer, der 2006 verstarb, wurde von drei Freunden in einem kleinen Buch namens “Holloway” in Erinnerung gehalten.
Wann immer ich jetzt diese tiefen Pfade finde, die der Lauf der Zeit, die Lebewesen, die Menschen und das Wetter in den Waldboden gegraben haben, denke ich an Roger, obwohl wir uns nie getroffen haben.
