Berlin is one of the leafiest capital cities in the world and these trees take some tending. I stopped in my tracks on the way in to work the other morning as one of the trees along the side of the road had been felled. It had reached a ripe old age by the looks of it’s neighbour.
Perhaps it was just the trigger I needed after so much change but I did observe, with genuine surprise, how much more slowly one’s tears roll down one’s cheeks when the temperature is below freezing.
I am grateful to this stump for being a daily reminder and encouragement for my mission to tell everyone about the plight of the Canal du Midi and the replanting of the trees.
